THE AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER IN LAS PALOMAS

View of the entrance area and the botanical garden

_

Being used by peasant families in the community of LAS PALOMAS (Nicaragua), the AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER has the goal to secure sales of regional agricultural goods, share processing and production facilities and generate sustainable development through different educational programs. As participation is the key to reaching those goals, the community members have evaluated their needs and were involved in the design process. Furthermore, they will execute the construction themselves – under supervision of a group of local women, specialized in building with on-site earth. The beginning of construction is planned for autumn 2019.

A 5-week field research trip to Nicaragua preceded this Master’s project.
